Drancy on November 1, 2017
The BNVCA is appalled by the information that has just arrived that the stele erected in Bagneux (92) in tribute to the young Jew Ilan Halimi, was again profaned on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, covered with obscene inscriptions and, insults antisemites.
The authors will have chosen to commit their infamous act, the day of All Saints, this "festival of the dead" which commemorates the martyrs and the faithful dead
We recall that on January 21, 2006 Ilan Halimi was kidnapped, held for 24 days and tortured to death, because he was Jewish, by the "Gang of Barbarians" led by Youssouf Fofana.
Already on May 3, 2015 this stele had been deliberately reversed and broken. A new plaque had been erected as of May 5, 2015.
The BNVCA considers this new profanation an offense against the Republic and the Jewish citizens of France.
We ask the police to make every effort to identify the perpetrators and to challenge them to be judged and condemned for their cowardly and heinous act
In this context of anti-Jewish hatred that has persisted in France for nearly 18 years, the BNVCA understands why the families of the victims of the many anti-Semitic attacks preferred to bury their dead in Israel so that they rest in peace, in their graves respected and preserved from all profanation
The BNVCA asks Mrs. Marie Hélène Mayor of Bagneux to proceed to the restoration of the vandalized stele..
