I asked my little girls in their late teens what they thought of the society in which they lived.
They unanimously told me about the lack of solidarity and the dominant individualism.
Living in families where there is no question of identity - which seems to be asserted at home - neither of gender, stepfamily nor migratory competition, they have in fact found only the fall on oneself and one's own interests, to the detriment of those in the group, as a long-term problem.
In fact, by browsing the broadcasts everywhere and the complaints and criticisms that ooze in reading essays, novels or journals, we are faced with undeniable facts, society is in full decomposition, and some even speak of liquefaction…. How and why ?
The last world war that ended 72 years ago has been replaced by series of contained local or regional wars, asymmetric wars where all means are good to express one's aggression, violence or desire for destabilization and / or of conquest.
Despite or because of all the changes that have taken place, society remains eminently violent. The changes were aimed at empowering the family and its members, including women, to provide shelter and food, better health for the individual, meaningful and appropriate work, and physical and mental prevention.
We have achieved the destruction of the biblical family, sexual evanescence, limitless tolerance, loss of identity and landmarks ... Today, we live in the "anything undifferentiated" - in my childhood was called that "scarabuccia" - without much discernment, because everything that has taken centuries to establish as a more or less stable equilibrium has shattered in the face of freedom without frontiers, an equality of illusions, a fraternity of interests, in a magma governed by the rapid progress of technology and the dissemination of information.
What was ephemeral becomes "instantaneous"; nothing is immutable, predictable, or readable; people understand each other less, since values, interests and knowledge are so scattered. Loneliness is replaced by incoherent or punctual groupings.
Apart from automatons, no one is able to master the available information, from which only snatches, with harmful "fakes", can be grasped, to the point that one might wonder if it was not healthier to have very little information, but credible. The profusion of images and information truncated leads to a permanent "zapping" in the "virtual", without possibility of understanding to act better.
It was in this waning Western society that an offensive religious power, but itself breathless, managed to take root. Adepts of this primitive faith, intolerant and without free will, often illuminated, have come from far away sometimes aggressively replace those who opened the door with credulity or overconfidence. The atmosphere of permanent insecurity settles.
But at the same time, many human and socio-economic indices make us think that the seeds of a rebirth are nevertheless present.
We believe that this liquefied and endangered phase of society will not last forever and that society will move towards more structured, stronger and more stable forms, once the swing in the wrong direction has stopped. The process is likely to be lengthy and depends on each person's ability to act with courage and determination in the direction of progress, discernment, responsibility and justice. It is also possible that an important conflict or the appearance of a providential man accelerates this stabilization. The Company is in the long-term Restructuring Phase. Each of us must participate!
