FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 9:00 AM, March 20, 2018 |
COMMUNICATED
Paris on March 25, 2018
The Confederation of the Jews of France and Friends of Israel, after careful reading of the plan against anti-Semitism presented Monday, March 19 by Edward Philippe, is deeply disappointed by its content. !
The Confederation of Jews of France and Friends of Israel did not want to react hot to this presentation, this crucial subject being too sensitive to allow to react by the emotion or the approximation. We therefore wanted to analyze all the elements contained in this document before reacting.
Unfortunately, reading this document, we could only be comforted by the weakness of the proposals made, especially if we compare them with those made by the previous government of Manuel Valls, at its conference of 17 April 2015.
The plan presented on Monday only recapture the clichés that have shown their inefficiency for decades. Admittedly, a desire for European legislative initiative is expressed but, even if it were to succeed, it would be only a minor element as the accommodations spread over the planet.
Many elements described as innovative are only the recovery of currently operational elements: the pre-complaint on the internet is already effective with the reports of the platform Pharos, the hunt for racist and antisemitic information is effective by the BNVCA since 2002, the specific training of magistrates was installed in 2005, the (presumed) willingness to act in schools, ...
The problem today is not so much the hunt for hate speech on social networks, or their criminal prosecution, but the deterrent value of the penal repression that must ensue from it and which is not even mentioned in this plan. .
The first and only decisive measure that must be taken to ensure that racism or anti-Semitism is no longer perceived as a slip of opinion but as a real crime is that it be repressed as such in the general penal code!
How to educate, convince, repress anti-Semitism when its repression is included in the repression of the abuses of opinion as defined by the law of the press of 1881!
If the state does not see racism and anti-Semitism as a violation of human rights and repressed as such, how could it be otherwise for the perpetrators?
We will come back at length on this 2018-2020 plan to demonstrate how it represents a regression compared to the 2015-2017 plan presented by Manuel Valls. This plan, supported by the previous Minister of the Interior, Minister of Justice, Prime Minister and President of the Republic, and which was a spectacular advance in this area, could not be embodied in a law following enormous pressure, incomprehensible, of those who applaud today in this plan.
Disappointed we are, but combative we remain, in order to overcome this plague that is anti-Semitism and racism, scourge, which today, kills in France, we saw it again this week!
We will not cease to recall that the first significant measure to effectively fight against this scourge is the implementation, in every respect, of the Valls plan presented in 2015.
If the state is not able to implement this plan, then there is nothing more to hope for the state in this struggle of vital importance for the French and especially for the Jewish community, threatened in his most vital security.
Richard C. ABITBOL
President
This plan is just powder to the eyes as you say.
There is already a strategic mistake of departure: that of assimilating, cumulating, racism and anti-Semitism, it is not the same thing. To put them in the same pot is to dilute anti-Semitism in a soup where we find everything. It's an error that does not help anyone
Objective 1: Separate the two.
The current government is struggling to combat anti-Semitism. First of all, is he fighting it? He calls fighting protecting Jews or settlements, it's not fighting that. Protection is the minimum required granted to any French citizen. Fighting is something else that is what the state does against Islamophobia or it lets nothing happen and acts severely. I suggest that the organizations (Muslim or others) that fight Islamophobia add the formula: "Against Islamophobia AND anti-Semitism." We will already have in this case a message addressed to both populations.
It will have the merit of calming anti-republican ardor.
The French government is doing more to defend the Muslim world on its territory (accor in Barcelona and Strasbourg) and this to the detriment of the French autochthonous, let alone Jews.
There is nothing to expect from the current political world.
The French government is busier in helping so-called "Palestinian" terrorist assassins through its embassy in Jerusalem, than the French Jews who currently fall like flies by FRENCH ORIGIN (ie) MOROCCAN, TUNISIAN, ALGERIAN! Short! ARABES!
France is sorry! It has nothing to envy Petainist France!
Anger is not advisable, but it boils a whole generation that will not let it go,
How to stay calm
Thank you Dear Richard ABITBOL for this very pleasant and rewarding meeting!
The new encounters widen the roads and fertilize the land!
Fraternally Lea Sangler
