FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
9:00 am, March 28, 2018
Paris on March 28, 2018
The Confederation of the Jews of France and the Friends of Israel deplore the attitude of the CRIF which did not respect the will of the family of Mireille Knoll and the shameful slippages that followed!
The Confederation of Jews in France and Friends of Israel has always fought against anti-Semitism and its corollary, anti-Zionism. It has always fought in the courtrooms all slippages, most of which came from the extreme left, the N.PA., some members of France Insoumise and the Communist Party (even though Pierre Laurent was not excluded) But this Wednesday, March 28, it was neither a political parade, nor controversy but of memory in memory of a lady of 85 years, brutally massacred, because Jewish.
This fight belongs to no one in particular, but to the entire nation.
For the first time, in France, since the war, all parties, without exception, called to fight this plague! We had a unique opportunity to demonstrate this national unanimity in the face of anti-Semitism, a unique opportunity we missed because of the heavy fault committed by the CRIF by the voice of its President, Francis Kalifat!
He bears full responsibility for the slippage that ensued and is accountable for the communitarian image he has given, despite themselves, to the Jewish community in France.
The whole political class, unanimous this time, condemned the attitude of CRIF, even going so far as to question its representativeness!
Insults and hateful jokes were shouted against Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Marine Le Pen, as well as against other elected officials of the Republic who accompanied them, even though this march was meant to be silent. Who among us would have accepted such sacrilege in the death march for one of his relatives?
Indeed, insults of a violence and a vulgarity unheard rocked, about dozens of thugs who dirty this march that should have been and remain silent. In addition, they dared to flout the will of the victim's family clearly stated by the son of the victim, Daniel Knoll.
On behalf of the Jews of France whom we represent, in the name of the fight against anti-Semitism, we apologize to those who have been insulted and to the family whose will has not been respected. But we will continue to fight, all those, whatever their political engagement if they happened to dare to slip, insult or wound a Jew in France!
CRIF has committed a serious mistake that will have significant repercussions not only for the CRIF but for our entire community.
This sad episode highlights that there is no place in France for Muslim, Jewish, Christian or Buddhist movements, representative or not, who would have a political inclination and that since 1905.
The politicization of the communities partition the Nation according to ethnicity or religion and we do not want it.
